European Union strengthens diplomatic ties with Turkmenistan

The first Ambassador of the European Union to Turkmenistan, Diego Alonso, presented his credentials to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. This is reported by the press service of the Head of State. The diplomat told the Turkmen leader of the new strategy of the European Union in the Turkistan region and about the interest of European officials in cooperation with Turkmenistan in the formation of new international transport routes and gas transportation highways. Alonso also discussed with Berdimuhamedov issues of cooperation in the fields of economic diversification, foreign investment and public-private partnership, environmental protection and water resources management. Summing up the meeting, President Berdimuhamedov stressed that the European vector is one of the key directions of Turkmenistan's foreign policy strategy. Read also: EU still dreams of Turkmen gas
