Ghana to start using drones for coronavirus tests

Ghana's government will begin using unmanned aerial vehicles from U.S. startup Zipline to provide faster population testing for coronavirus outside major cities. This is reported by Citizen TV with reference to the message Zipline. According to journalists of the TV channel, 834 cases of coronavirus infection were identified in Ghana, nine of which were fatal. According to the statement, the Zipline drone carried out a test flight to assist in the fight against coronavirus on 1 April. Drones will now deliver tests taken from patients from more than 1,000 health facilities in rural areas, in a laboratory in the nation's capital, Accra and in the major city of Kumasi. Using contactless delivery by unmanned aerial vehicles to transport samples for COVID-19 tests will allow the government to respond to the pandemic and help save lives faster, Zipline Executive Director Keller Rinaudo said. According to him, drones will fly daily, which will significantly reduce the delivery time.
