Mousavi: Afghan Foreign Ministry representative to visit Iran
On June 20, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said in a message that Afghan Acting Foreign Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar, who heads a high-ranking delegation, plans to visit Iran on June 21. This was reported by the Iranian agency IRNA. According to Mousavi, during his stay in Iran, Atmar will hold talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and other officials. A senior Afghan delegation will discuss various issues in the framework of working groups on comprehensive cooperation and relations in the economic, border, foreign policy spheres. Iran and Afghanistan are two neighbouring friendly countries. In 1935, diplomatic relations were established between the states during the reign of the Afghan king Zahir Shah and the Iranian Pahlavi dynasty.
