Virgin Galactic tested the tourist cosmoplane VSS Unity
The suborbital cosmoplane VSS Unity took off for the second time during tests in New Mexico. This was reported by the press service of Virgin Galactic. Virgin Galactic plans to use spaceplanes of the SpaceShipTwo series for suborbital tourist flights. The next tests were carried out with the second space plane of this series, called VSS Unity. The spaceplan was launched from the private cosmodrome America using the VMS Eve launch vehicle. During the tests, VSS Unity reached a speed of 0.85 Mach, performed a series of maneuvers and made a successful landing. The tests made it possible to collect the data necessary for the first launch with tourists. The company noted that this launch may take place in 2020. As previously reported by the news agency, in June, the American aerospace agency NASA signed an agreement with Virgin Galactic on cooperation in the field of space tourism.
