Despite the ongoing pandemic of coronavirus infection, the Swedish State Migration Authority has set itself the goal of importing 5,000 refugees under a special quota during the remaining months of 2020. The ministry emphasized that the epidemiological situation both in Sweden and in the world will not affect the decision to accept thousands of refugees, as the goal of the Swedish authorities remains unchanged. This was reported on July 27 by the newspaper Fria Tider. First of all, we are talking about people staying in the country under the special quota of the United Nations (UN). Recall that a refugee falling into the UN quota is a person who left his country and was selected by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees to move to another country. This year Sweden committed itself to accepting 5,000 refugees within the established quota. Sweden mainly receives people from the Middle East and Africa. At the first stage, we are talking about the arrival of a limited number of people who plan to come here in August. Our goal is for Sweden to accept 5,000 refugees under this quota during this year. But the pandemic and restrictions, as well as their impact on the work of air travel, may affect the achievement of targets this year, according to the website of the Swedish State Migration Administration.
