About 100 people remain under the rubble of a house in the city of Mahad, 165 kilometers south of Mumbai, Reuters reported on August 24. During the collapse, from 100 to 125 people were inside the building, said local MP Bharatshet Maruti Gogavale. Rescuers and local residents were able to remove about 30 people from the rubble of a five-story residential building with 47 apartments. The rescue operation continues. See also:
