Chinese companies lured more than 100 TSMC engineers - media
Over the past year, more than 100 experienced specialists from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co, the world's largest chip manufacturer. (TSMC) went to work in two Chinese organizations. It is reported by Nikkei Asian Review, citing sources in the industry. According to the publication, about 50 TSMC specialists joined the Quanxin Integrated Circuit Manufacturing (QXIC) company, as much as Hongxin Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (HSMC). These organizations were created in 2017 and 2019, respectively, with the support of the Chinese government. Now QXIC and HSMC are developing technologies for the production of electronic chips in the 14 and 12-nanometer technological process. It is noted that to attract engineers from TSMC, Chinese companies offered a higher salary (2 2.5 times), as well as additional bonuses. QXIC and HSMC also come from TSMC lead. As previously reported by the news agency, in May TSMC stopped accepting orders for the production of chips from Huawei due to US government sanctions against the Chinese company.
